1940 PACKARD "WOODY" - AVAILABLE
Inverness Green with brown leather. In stock for immediate delivery.
If you are looking for the most beautiful Woody Wagon in the world, look no farther than this 1940 Packard Super 8. The original Cantrell body has benefited from a recent restoration and is stunning. The highly finished dark and light woods, deep green paint and brown leather interior evoke Chris-Craft and Garwood runabouts.
The 356 cubic inch Straight 8 engine starts and runs flawlessly. The three-speed column gear change shifts smoothly and easily. There is overdirve on 2nd and 3rd gears. The well-performing mechanicals make this show-worthy car one that you will enjoy driving and sharing with others. It would be a shame not to pack the seven place cabin with enthusiastic passengers.
This car was the subject of a four page article in
Classic and Sports Car
magazine. The author wrote, "As we motor home, the last strands of twilight reflecting off the long bonnet and the high side spare cases, it's easy to see why coach-built woodies such as the Packard are so prized in America."
Imagine this gorgeous Packard idling at a country train station while bags are loaded in, waiting at the ferry for summer island guests, or gliding through an Adirondack night. Whatever the locale, this car will undoubtedly become a member of the family, contributing to your own memories of twilight evenings.
